Rose oil for glowy skin

It is the month of the rose! The best time to put one of our favourite skincare ingredients in the spotlight: rose oil. Why is this such a great oil?

Where does rose oil come from?

Rose oil is extracted from rose petals. The highest quality rose oil is usually obtained from the Bulgarian rose (Rosa Damascena); these leaves are packed with antioxidants, vitamins and fatty acids. To extract rose oil, the rose petals must be distilled. This is done with steam. This way, all valuable substances are preserved and your skin can enjoy all the benefits the rose has to offer. Besides the Bulgarian rose, Persian rose is also used, as well as Turkish or white rose. Skip products with rose absolute. This is an oil that is extracted. This involves alcohol. As a result, only the rose scent remains, but not the skin benefits.

Rose oil for dry skin

Rose oil is one of the most hydrating vegetable oils available. It is mega-nourishing and therefore very suitable for dry skin. But even if you have a normal or even oily skin, you can still use rose oil. Rose oil contains vitamins A, C and E, omega 3 and 6. Thanks to the addition of vitamins C and E, rose oil is also protective and calming for your skin.

Against acne and impurities

One of the best benefits of rose oil is that this gentle oil has an anti-inflammatory effect. This means that rose oil calms redness and itching, soothes impurities and can prevent new pimples. Rose oil is naturally antiseptic. It slightly disinfects your skin and thus has a very purifying effect. Apply rose oil in the evening to cleansed skin and leave on well before going to bed. We bet you will see an improvement after just a few days.

Relax...

Research has shown that the sweet scent of rose oil calms the mind and can even help with stress and anxiety. The scent is calming and relaxing. Many people associate the scent with warmth and love, which creates positive vibes. Breathe in, breathe out...

Almost the same: rosehip oil

Rose oil should not be confused with rosehip oil. Rosehip oil is extracted from the fruit attached to the rose bush (rose hips). The benefits of both oils are almost identical. Like rose oil, rosehip oil is full of antioxidants (vitamins C and E) and essential fatty acids that protect, soften and moisturise the skin. If you want to boost your dull complexion, rosehip oil is an excellent choice. Its vitamin C brightens the skin and protects it in the sun.
